Key Highlights
Chester Creek Trail meanders through some of the surrounding communities of Philadelphia providing a welcoming green space on a previously derelict and unused portion of SEPTA’s rail lines. Upon first visit to the site we knew it would take some out of the box engineering to provide a long-lasting corridor which would serve the public for our lifetime and more. Portions of the rail bed had been washed away by flooding and bank erosion over the years leaving a pinnacle of a walking path, rails just hanging in mid-air, and structures had been left to the weather and natural forces. WCG engineered cost effective solutions to rejuvenate the aging structure and with our sub-consultant Skelly and Loy we provided a natural design to help prevent future bank erosion and along the rest of the trail provided a unique greenspace welcoming to all generations.
