Bridge Engineer - Full Time
Opportunity
We are seeking a Mid-Level Bridge Engineer in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. In this position you will function as a Project Engineer and Technical Leader responsible for performing and guiding the technical direction of projects from preliminary design through completion of construction. This position requires a Pennsylvania Professional Engineer’s license and proof of recent relevant work experience. Key responsibilities include overseeing, performing, reviewing, and understanding state and municipal bridge design projects developed in accordance with the PennDOT processes.

Responsibilities
Support the Senior Project Managers in the technical development of bridge projects from design to completion of construction.
Prepare and/or review computations, construction plans, specifications, quantities, estimates, and bid documents for construction.
Provide professional consultation during construction of in-house bridge designs, including review of contractor submittals.
Prepare and/or review temporary works designs for contractors (shoring, jacking, demolition/erection plans, falsework, & formwork).
Serve as Engineer of Record, resolve technical issues throughout design and construction, and mentor junior design staff.
Collaborate with support staff and project subconsultants for the overall development of bridge design projects.
If certified, aid in performing and reviewing all work related to NBIS Bridge Safety Inspection programs (field inspections, bridge reports, load ratings, load posting evaluations, Plans of Action for Critical Deficiencies, and Owner Consultant Meetings).

Experience/Skills
Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering – required.
Licensure / Certification: Professional Engineering License in PA – required / NBIS Certification – preferred.
Experience: 8 to 15 years (±) of bridge engineering and design experience in Pennsylvania – required.
PennDOT and Municipal bridge design experience – required / Construction Engineering Experience – preferred.
Proficiency with AASHTO and PennDOT Design Manuals, Standards, Specifications, PennDOT Software, ECMS, & PennBid – required.
Proficiency in preparing bridge design computations, plans, technical specifications, estimates, and overall bid documents – required.
Exceptional time management, communication, analytical, and organizational skills, and the ability to perform critical thinking through logic and reasoning with others in a dynamic team environment – required.
Exposure and/or experience related to geotechnical and hydraulics components of bridge design – preferred.
