Position Summary

We’re seeking a technically strong, detail‑oriented Professional Bridge Engineer to serve as a Project Engineer on a diverse portfolio of bridge and transportation projects. You’ll work across the full project lifecycle — from concept through construction — developing technical depth, broad exposure, and a clear path toward senior project management in a supportive small‑firm setting.


What You’ll Do

Technical Design & Analysis

  • Perform structural analysis and design for bridge superstructures and substructures using AASHTO LRFD.

  • Prepare and check design calculations, load ratings, quantities, cost estimates, and technical reports.

  • Develop preliminary and final bridge plans, details, and notes; support rehabilitation, replacement, and new structure design.

Field, Inspection, and Construction‑Phase Support

  • Conduct field reviews and structural assessments.

  • Support construction‑phase engineering and contractor temporary works (shoring, falsework, erection plans, etc.).

  • Participate in NBIS bridge safety inspections (training available).

Project Coordination & QA/QC

  • Coordinate with clients, permitting agencies, and project stakeholders.

  • Contribute to quality control/quality assurance on deliverables.

Planning, Funding, and Asset Management

  • Support planning studies, feasibility analyses, grant applications, and funding strategies.

Assist with asset management and infrastructure evaluations for public‑sector clients.


Required Qualifications

  • B.S in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred).

  • Active PE in Pennsylvania with 4–8 years of progressive bridge engineering experience.

  • Working knowledge of PennDOT manuals, standards, specifications, and software.

  • Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD, structural analysis software, and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong technical writing and communication; able to work independently and collaboratively in a consulting role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with PennDOT Engineering District practices and preferences.

  • Experience with NBIS bridge inspection.

  • Experience in structural inspection, temporary works, & construction engineering; willingness to perform field work.

  • Client-facing experience and interest in mentoring junior engineers.
